How-to Article | Automatically Re-Attempting Failed Payments in Pinch

IMPORTANT: Only Failed Payments that were auto-debited can be automatically reattempted. As of Feb 2026, you can now independently configure your re-attempt policy for card and direct-debit payments.

  1. Log into your Pinch account.

  2. Click on Config from the left menu

  3. Click on the Re-Attempt Settings tab

  4. Tick the Re-Attempt Failed Payments checkbox for either Card, or Direct Debits, or both

  5. In the Days Before Re-Attempt box, choose how many days after a failed payment the re-attempt will take place

  6. In the Maximum Re-Attempts box, choose how many times a failed payment will be re-attempted before Pinch stops automatically attempting to debit the customer

  7. After making any updates or changes to your Re-Attempt Settings in Pinch, click the Save Changes button. 

Notes: Keep in mind that Direct-Debits incur a dishonour fee of $5, with Card failures incurring no fees.
