How-to Article | Automatically Re-Attempting Failed Payments in Pinch
IMPORTANT: Only Failed Payments that were auto-debited can be automatically reattempted. As of Feb 2026, you can now independently configure your re-attempt policy for card and direct-debit payments.
- Log into your Pinch account.
https://app.getpinch.com.au/account/login - Click on Config from the left menu
- Click on the Re-Attempt Settings tab
- Tick the Re-Attempt Failed Payments checkbox for either Card, or Direct Debits, or both
- In the Days Before Re-Attempt box, choose how many days after a failed payment the re-attempt will take place
- In the Maximum Re-Attempts box, choose how many times a failed payment will be re-attempted before Pinch stops automatically attempting to debit the customer
- After making any updates or changes to your Re-Attempt Settings in Pinch, click the Save Changes button.
Notes: Keep in mind that Direct-Debits incur a dishonour fee of $5, with Card failures incurring no fees.
